The Mobile Pentest Methodology

Free lesson 1 of 7 from Mobile Penetration Testing — The full mobile assessment methodology (Android + iOS) mapped to OWASP MASVS — on real cloud devices.. No account, no card.

One repeatable process for any mobile app

Where the Android/iOS AppSec courses go deep per-platform, this course is the methodology that ties it together: a structured, MASVS-mapped assessment you can run on any app, on either OS, and deliver as a professional report. It's the "how a mobile pentest engagement actually runs" course.

👑 Elite lab: the hands-on portions will run on real cloud Android + iOS devices (Corellium) — coming soon. The methodology below is yours to study now.

The phases

1. Scoping & threat model 4. Dynamic analysis (runtime, network)
2. Static analysis (the app) 5. Backend/API testing
3. Local storage review 6. Reporting (MASVS-mapped)
🎯 Challenge: Why do mobile pentests always end up testing the backend API too, not just the app on the device?
Show solution

The app is a client; the real data and logic live in the API. Client-side controls can be bypassed (Frida/repacking), so the security that matters is server-side — which means the API is squarely in scope (IDOR/BOLA, auth, etc.). A mobile pentest is half app, half API.
